Broncos upset Olivet in thriller

Hastings College players Amanda Olson (22) Maddy Paskevic (9)
and Megan Kruse (10) celebrate Kruse's game winning goal in
the final second of overtime against Olivet Nazarene
University Saturday at Lloyd Wilson Field.
It was a busy weekend for Hastings College athletics.

Bronco volleyball competed in the Hastings College Classic, football had its season opener and the women’s soccer team hosted NAIA No. 2 Olivet Nazarene University.

Riding a two-game win streak going into Saturday’s match, the Hastings College soccer team gave fans a reason to forget the extreme heat.

The Broncos knocked off the second-ranked Tigers 1-0 in a thrilling overtime victory.

“The girls grinded. It was hot, and you could tell both teams were pretty gassed, but they kept grinding and grinding away,” Hastings College head coach Mark Hiemenz said. “I’m so proud of them.”
