Broncos grind out victory

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa — It may not have been pretty, but it’s a win.
The Hastings College football team got the first game under its belt Saturday, defeating Dordt College 20-7 at Open Space Park. The game was more of a grind than expected from the Defenders, but Bronco head coach Tony Harper was proud of the way the Broncos handled adversity.
“I saw the guys compete hard. We’ve talked this week that with the scheme they run offensively and defensively it’s going to be a roller-coaster ride,” Harper said. “We kind of weathered the storm. They had some big plays. We had some big plays. It kind of went back and forth. But I was proud of the way the guys responded today.”
