Off the heels of an impressive five-set victory over No. 11 Doane on Wednesday, the Hastings College volleyball team had plenty of forward momentum heading into its own weekend tournament.
The Broncos (11-2) cruised to a sweep against McPherson (Kan.) — 25-13, 25-13, 25-19 — in their first match Friday. Then, for the second time in three days, HC was set to face yet another NAIA top 15 opponent in No. 13 Oklahoma Baptist.
The unranked Broncos fell in the first set, but responded with a huge 27-25 second set victory. The team held on in five to capture a 14-25, 27-25, 25-16, 19-25, 15-11 win.
“We needed to follow up the big win Wednesday night with another good one. Baptist is a great team. That was one of the best volleyball matches I’ve been a part of,” head coach Matt Buttermore said.
