Wilber-Clatonia shutout by Adams Central

Adams Central running back Buzz Niederklein (left) breaks
free for a 28-yard touchdown as Wilber-Clatonia's Michael
Gushard (24) turns to follow him in the first quarter Friday
night at Wilber. Niederklein carried the ball 32 times for 163
yards and both of the Patriots' touchdowns.

WILBER — Football fans in Wilber kept hearing two names over the loudspeakers again and again Friday night — Buzz Niederklein and Jack Barry.

The two Adams Central team captains guided the Patriots to a 17-0 shutout of Wilber-Clatonia in what AC head coach Bill Carlin called "pure Adams Central football."

"I thought our kids really played hard while overcoming some bumps and bruises and injuries we had to our linemen," he said, "And that's not the deepest place for us right now with those injuries. The kids really came together. Our young kids stepped up, we threw them out there and they played hard. I was very proud of them tonight."
