Adams Central's Sarah Allen hits against Doniphan-Trumbull's
Ashton Mazour Thursday night at Adams Central.
The Doniphan-Trumbull fans knew what was coming.
In the middle of the third set of the Cardinals volleyball match at Adams Central Thursday night, a set was sent up in the air by Patriot senior Anna Queen.
A Cardinal fan shouted, “Number seven!”
As in, be ready for the Patriots’ No. 7 — junior Sarah Allen. She still got that kill, one of 26 she had in helping the Patriots (3-6) sweep Doniphan-Trumbull 27-25, 25-18, 25-15.
“There’s no secret to our team. Sarah Allen is going to be our No. 1, go-to player,” said Adams Central head coach Twila Knehans. “She’s played a lot of volleyball and you could see that tonight on the floor. What I asked of the kids was that we needed to have somebody else step up, and I think the kids responded to that and it helped open up things for Sarah.”
