KEARNEY — Hastings College’s Matt Buttermore isn’t big on moral victories.
That much was evident Wednesday night after the NAIA No. 7-ranked Broncos were swept 25-19, 25-18, 25-14 by NCAA Division II No. 1 University of Nebraska at Kearney before a crowd of 1,952 at the UNK Health and Sports Center.
“We want to go out and win every match we play,” said Buttermore, whose team saw its 10-match winning streak snapped. “Losing hurts no matter who it’s to. We talked before the match that you only get a couple of chances in your life to play against a No. 1-ranked team.
“We thought it was a fun opportunity for us — one we were excited about — but we want to win every match we play.”
