Hastings High's Michael Sadd is tackled by Beatrice's Hunter
Zarybnicky (8) and Clayton Welch (11) Friday at Lloyd
Wilson Field.
Coming off a 28-7 loss to Class B No. 3 Scottsbluff last week, Hastings High had to face an even tougher challenge Friday with the No. 1 team coming to town.
In the loss to the Bearcats, HHS stymied a potent offense in the second half. That momentum seemed to carry over into their game against the Orangemen, as Beatrice could only manage 3 points in a tight first quarter.
But in the second quarter, Hastings handed the game away with three fumbles. Before the end of the quarter, and 27 points later, Beatrice showed why it's regarded as the best team in the class. The Orangemen muscled their way to a 44-0 victory to remain undefeated. The Tigers dropped their fourth consecutive game and fell to 1-4.
