Hawkettes gelling at right time

The St. Cecilia volleyball team has weapons. The offense is a well-built, efficient machine. The Hawkettes show fewer errors than most teams at the prep level. The defense is intimidating at times in the front row.

These are things we know about the Hawkettes now.

These weren’t things head coach Alan VanCura knew about his team heading into this season, however.

“The way we are playing now, this is kind of what we envisioned of what we wanted to have happen,” said VanCura, whose team boasts a 15-2 record and Class C-2 No. 1 ranking by both the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star. “We really didn’t have a chance to see that this summer because of injuries and so on.”
