BEATRICE — It took just one play for Hastings High to see a glimpse of what was to come.
On the first play from scrimmage in the Tigers' game at Beatrice, the Orangemen's Jessup Workman took the handoff and ran 72 yards for a touchdown.
It was the first of three rushing touchdowns of at least 70 yards in the quarter for Class B No. 7 Beatrice (4-1), which scored the first 42 points of the game en route to posting a 49-13 win over the Tigers (0-5) Friday night.
"That was painful," first-year HHS coach Erik Emerson said of the game's opening play. "We thought we could fight them off up front and kind of have a bend-but-don't-break approach. We were going to try to be a little more aggressive this week on defense ... and I think it backfired on us a little bit.
