The Sandy Creek volleyball team picked the right day to be on its game.
The No. 7-seeded Cougars (8-8) went 3-0 — never dropping a game — and took the Adams Central invitational with a tough 26-24, 25-22 over top-seeded and previously undefeated Superior (14-1) Saturday.
The invite had eight teams seeded by wildcard points, making Sandy Creek’s performance even more special. The Cougars had lost six of their previous eight matches coming into the day.
“I think the girls figured out they love playing together. When we’re playing together and playing well, we’re unstoppable as evidenced by today,” said Sandy Creek head coach Angie Morris, whose team also swept No. 2 Doniphan-Trumbull 25-18, 25-18 and No. 6 Adams Central 25-19, 25-21. “It’s a special day.
