SMITH CENTER, Kan. — The Smith Center boys basketball team lost a lot of its production from last season to graduation, leaving this year’s team in need of some offense. Five of the top seven scorers from last year’s squad ended their prep careers after the team went 9-11 last season.
Trenton Colby was second on the team, averaging 10.2 points per game in his junior season last year. Then-sophomore Griffin Kugler tallied 6.7 points per contest. Smith Center also loses its top four rebounders from a year ago.
Smith Center will open the season on Friday, traveling to Plainville. It won’t have a hoe game until Dec. 20, when the squad will host Norton.
