Hastings College head coach Jina Douglas reacts as the Broncos score against Kansas Wesleyan in the fourth quarter of their game Oct. 25, 2015, at Lynn Farrell Arena.

Hastings College Director of Athletics B.J. Pumroy has announced that head women’s basketball coach Jina Douglas will be taking on additional duties as assistant athletic director. Douglas will be replacing former Assistant Athletic Director Chris Clemens who moved on to be head women’s soccer coach at Minot State (N.D.) University.

Douglas will serve as the lead administrator for the Hastings College athletic department for NAIA and Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) compliance areas.

“In speaking with the campus and coaching staff Jina Douglas is well respected by her peers and has shown the commitment to success with her teams both on the floor and in the classroom,” Pumroy said. “As a former multi-sport high school athlete and an elite college player Jina has an understanding of the complete department and can bring great qualities to the administration of the department and campus.”

Douglas has served as head women’s basketball coach for the past four season and has compiled an 87-42 overall record and 55-29 in GPAC play.

All four of her teams advanced to the NAIA National Tournament with the 2017-18 team making it to the quarterfinal round.

A three-year starter for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the former Jina Johansen held assistant coaching positions at Augustana College (S.D.) and Southwest Minnesota State University prior to getting her first head coaching position at the University of Dallas.

In addition to earning her B.A. in nutritional science and dietetics at UNL in 2005, she has an M.S. in sports pedagogy from South Dakota State University. She also served as a graduate assistant to the SDSU women’s basketball program.
