NORTH PLATTE — The Hastings High cross country teams competed Wednesday at the Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference meet in North Platte. The girls team won the meet with a team score of 57 points while the boys finished in third place with 64 points.
Chelsey Espinosa won the girls race with a time of 19 minutes, 9.61 seconds. Marry Ferrone finished ninth in 21:35.69. Jessie Nguyen was 12th (21:52.24), and Gillian Hueske was 15th (22:06.53). Hayden Weiss (20th, 22:26.07), Kiernan Bierman (23rd, 22:34.03), and Lilli Widhelm (24th, 22:34.55) also competed for the Tigers.
Jaydon Welsh paced the boys with a second place finish in 16:23.53. Jonathan Lopez was ninth (17:23.67). Landon Eckhardt crossed 13th (17:37.89). Aaron Ochsner placed 19th (17:54.38). Also running were Tyler Sanderson (21st, 18:01.15), Matt Ochsner (23rd, 18:09.52), and Kevin Vuong (29th, 18:16.16).
SEWARD — The Hastings football team defeated Seward 24-14 on Friday. The Tigers took a 7-0 lead over the Bluejays early in the first quarter on a 12-yard pass from Jarrett Synek to Braden Kalvelage. Seward scored back-to-back touchdowns to take a 14-7 lead, but Hastings added a 24-yard field goal by Breyer Menke in the second quarter to cut the lead to four. And with just 21 seconds left in the half, Synek found Carson Shoemaker for a 17-yard touchdown and a 17-14 lead.
Hastings running back Trevor Sullivan put the finishing touches on the game, scoring from 53 yards out and extending the Tigers’ lead to 24-14. HHS is now 6-1 on the season and will finish the regular season with back-to-back home games against Beatrice and Northwest.
Harvard, Red Cloud
HARVARD — Harvard defeated Red Cloud 53-6 after leading 46-0 at halftime.
MILFORD — Fillmore Central was shut out by Milford on Friday, losing 28-0. The Panthers went into halftime trailing 6-0, but they couldn’t slow down the Eagles, who outscored Fillmore Central 22-0 in the second half.
SUPERIOR — Doniphan-Trumbull defeated Superior 70-7 on Friday. Keithan Stafford rushed 14 times for 215 yards and three touchdowns. Griffin Hendricks was 13-for-17 throwing the ball and tossed two TD passes, and he also rushed for 60 yards and a score. Grant Williams added 61 yards rushing and two touchdowns, and Landon Bumgardner also had a score to go with his 56 yards rushing. Ayden King caught three passes, two of which went for touchdowns, for 43 yards. King and Williams both led D-T with seven total tackles. Williams also had an interception, while Blake Detamore, Drake Belville, and Taylor Lautenschlager all recovered a fumble.

HILDRETH — Wilcox-Hildreth fell to Eustis-Farnam 86-34 on Friday. Gavin Sheen totaled five touchdowns on the day. He scored on runs of 18, 12, 72, and 7 yards while also passing for a 10-yard TD to Jayden Bauer. No other information was available.
