Display of kindness

I grew up in Hastings but moved away in 1998 to Fort Collins, Colo. This week we returned home to say goodbye to our loved one, Gregory Benker, who passed away Dec. 15.

On Wednesday, as we followed the hearse to his final resting place, nearly everyone we passed on the road pulled over in a impressive display of respect, even on the highway! My wife is not from this area and was completely in awe of this fantastic display of kindness and even commented that “you would never see this in Colorado.” Your actions brought tears to our eyes.

Thank you, Hastings, for showing such class to our loved one. I know you do this same thing for every funeral procession, which makes it even that much more impressive.
