Help and Goodwill

In mid-November, community volunteers, business leaders and students from Hastings High School made hundreds of phone calls in support of Goodwill’s programs for individuals experiencing disabilities. Each caring volunteer made a difference in the lives of someone who needs Goodwill’s pre-employment and employment services to get a job. Each donor positively impacted another person’s life and the Hastings community.

I know I live in a wonderful community and am surrounded by people who never grow tired of helping others. There are many worthy causes and the people of Hastings support them financially and through volunteerism. Their generosity brings S-M-I-L-E-S to many people.
I have to give a special shout out to the students from HHS. Goodwill was aided by a wonderful bunch of youth from the student council. They were kind, respectful, energetic and enthusiastic. I cannot put into words how dynamic this bunch was. The sponsors and leaders of the student council are to be commended for encouraging students to be active and involved in their community.

As these young men and women become adult community volunteers and leaders, guiding the next generation, I know our future is in good hands.
