HPD to be commended

I want to thank the Hastings Police Department for their quick response on a 911 call.

On Wednesday afternoon a co-worker and I were on our way back from Grand Island when we passed a very slow moving car headed south on U.S. Highway 281 just south of Interstate 80. The driver was traveling from one side of the road to the other, just missing other cars and trucks.

I called 911 and the Grand Island dispatcher said no one was in the area and put me through to the Hastings 911 operator. Just as they did that, a Nebraska State Patrol trooper drove north into Grand Island, so maybe the state patrol and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office have only one or even three cars to take on all of Hall County!

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office must have the same number of people on duty to try and pull over this possible drunk driver.

The driver made it from G.I. to Hastings before law enforcement could do anything about it. Way to go, HPD.
