Disgusting odor

Imagine having a railcar full of animal hides in your backyard. Now imagine the temperature climbing into the upper 90s.

That is what my neighbors on West Second Street and I have been living with for two summers now. I cannot even sit outside and enjoy the evenings because of the terrible, disgusting odor filtering into the neighborhood from two railcars one block from my residence.

It is my understanding that these railcars are filled with cow hides and carcasses. I have never smelled anything so horrible. The stench sickens me.

These railcars should not be allowed to rest in the city limits. Who is responsible for protecting Hastings citizens from this type of nuisance and health risk?
