Block party decision unfair

I think it is unfair of the City Council to single out Maple Avenue and pick up the barricades at 9 p.m. on Independence Day. Other parts of town had block parties and the barricades were left out after 9.

I think we should be able to celebrate our independence and thank our veterans for the freedom we have.

We clean our street and do not expect the city to clean it as others do.

For years, we have picked up other people's trash that they have left on our lawns after any event at Brickyard Park. We've had our driveways blocked and cars squeezed in where they can during those other events.

Those of us on Maple Avenue have not complained, so why should others when we want to block the street once a year?
