Fair needs rock bands, too

It is a crying shame that the Adams County fair board can only get country music at our county fair.

Year after year the same old thing.

We have had rock bands there before — 38 Special, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Three Dog Night, Lynyrd Skynyrd — and sold out the house.

But we have not had one for quite a few years. I believe it has been since the year 2000.
When I call to complain, I’m told that we cannot make any profit on rock bands. Is that what it’s all about nowadays? Profit before happiness?

I think maybe this fair board needs a change on the board of directors. We want this town to move into the 21st century, but old ideas are keeping us down.

Grand Island can get rock bands there and charge $30 a ticket and sell out. Why can’t Hastings do the same?
