Fantastic rodeo, Hastings

I just want to give the city of Hastings a tip of the hat and a big thank you for another amazing year.

What a fantastic job the many members of your rodeo committee, Adams County Ag Society staff and the business community does to host this event. You are second to none.

If you are not familiar with our rules for our competitors, they are required to have their back number on at all times during the finals, on or off the fairgrounds.

I hope that if you were a business owner you had one of those back numbers and their family in your place of business.

I think the mentality of a lot of rodeo families is that they have been on the road all over the state for 28 rodeos with supplies to camp out in primitive fairgrounds. We’re sick of it when we finally get to Hastings. We’re at the state finals; let’s go out to eat.

Let’s not stock our trailer at home. Instead, we can do that when get to Hastings.

Mom’s looking for a new SUV? Let’s go take a look. The ranch could use another ATV? You get the point.

If you were a business that supported the high school finals, we appreciate that.

Hastings College has nine top competitors from the NHSRA coming to college in your community. That’s not an accident. You guys started the ball rolling.

Hastings College’s rodeo was voted the college rodeo of the year. That’s not an accident. It’s all you, Hastings.

Great job, Hastings. We can’t wait to come back next year.
