Helping those who need it

In response to the letter by Melissa Woodard (Voice of the People, Jan. 24), I am sorry for your circumstances.

I am glad to see that the system is working for the people who really need it. In my letter I said “some” families. You must have missed that word.

I do not mind helping out people who need it — the key here is “need it.”

I give what I can afford. Sooner or later the help we are giving will be used up by the people who are just using the system.

All families have circumstances that they have to deal with. It’s how they deal with it that matters.

As I said in my first letter, some people take responsibility like you, and some do not.
